WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! PERSON CENTERED PLANNING SURVEY
The Division has contracted with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Institute on Disability and Human Development to evaluate our person-centered planning process for Adult DD Waiver recipients and to make recommendations to improve the process. Through input from various stakeholders, UIC developed a person-centered planning map to provide a visual of how the process is currently structured. Additionally, UIC developed a survey to understand the barriers and strengths within the process. Please complete the survey and distribute widely within your networks. We are interested in hearing from people receiving services, families, community organizations, ISCs and all other interested stakeholders. We hope to make the process run more smoothly for everyone and to maximize opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in Illinois! Responses by August 15th are appreciated!
RESOURCE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH I/DD AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS
One of the new initiatives the Division is undertaking in FY22 is a renewed focus on thinking about the support needs of individuals with I/DD and behavioral health needs. We wanted to provide the following resource developed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Social Work. This website provides information and resources for families, providers and others whom live with and care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who are also experiencing mental illness. It is a great resource!
ACL EMPLOYMENT FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is offering funding awards designed to enhance community and stakeholder collaborations which optimize opportunities for individuals with I/DD. Projects funded will include development of a broad range of community partners to focus on activities such as needs analysis, maximizing available resources and collaboration with local businesses. Community partners will engage in collaborative sessions and site visits, track program participant status / achievement and self-evaluate progress and impact. Grantees and their partners will work to reduce the complexity of available services, increase the smooth exchange among the various supportive programs, eliminate unnecessary duplication, create tools to increase consistency across service agencies, and ultimately expand and strengthen the services available to youth with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Division of Developmental Disabilities encourages providers, with capacity and desire to assist individuals with I/DD to obtain and sustain CIE, advance education and participate more fully in their communities, to apply. More information can be found here.
