When the group home acts as the resident's authorized representative, the group home must give the client their SNAP benefits using the following guidelines:

• If SNAP benefits were issued for the month but have not been used on behalf of the client, the group home must give the entire month's SNAP benefits to the client.
• If any portion of the monthly SNAP benefits were used on behalf of the client the group home may or may not be required to give the SNAP benefits to the client, as follows:
  • If the client leaves before the 16th of their fiscal month, they receive one-half of their monthly SNAP benefits; or
  • If the client leaves on or after the 16th of their fiscal month, they receive none of their monthly SNAP benefits.

The group home must keep a receipt showing the amount of SNAP benefits returned to the client. If the group home receives any SNAP benefits for a client after they leave, they must return the benefits to the Department.
