PM 03-06-03-c: System Entry of Counter

WAG 03-06-03-c.

AIS

When an adult age 18 or over applies for assistance and you enter either a Social Security Number (SSN) or a Recipient Identification Number (RIN) in AIS, the system automatically accesses the TANF Tracking Inquiry System and produces a clearance. The system assigns a counter of 00 if the person has not received countable months of TANF in Illinois. If the person has received countable months of TANF in Illinois, the system retrieves the most recent value of the counter and enters it on the current case. However, if the person has received TANF under more than one RIN, the worker must determine and enter the correct counter value.

Do not enter anything for the counter unless you need to change the counter value or no value appears due to more than one RIN.

ACM & IPACS

ACM and IPACS do not automatically access the TANF Tracking Inquiry System. Manually access the system before adding an adult to an active TANF or Medical case or transferring in a case from another county. Determine how many countable months of TANF the person has received in Illinois.

When a person is added to a TANF or Medical case in which they have received assistance before, the system automatically enters the previous value of the TANF counter from the client database.

If the person has not received assistance on the case before, the system enters zero. Do not make any entry for the counter unless this value is wrong. Enter the counter value only when you need to add or subtract months from the counter value in the system.
