This section provides procedures for verifying citizen/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) status and other citizen/USCIS requirements.
For a person born outside of the U.S., include in the case record the items used to establish their citizen/USCIS status.
For Federal Medicaid programs, documentation to verify U.S. citizenship and identity is required. See PM 03-01-01-b and PM 03-01-01-c for documentation requirements.
If a person is a noncitizen with documentation, USCIS status must also be verified through Federal Data Services Hub or SAVE. See WAG 03-01-05 for SAVE procedures.
For medical programs, certify benefits for a person who reports to meet the citizenship or one of the Medicaid qualifying USCIS statuses listed in PM 03-01-02, sections b through i, when they meet all other factors of eligibility and only proof of citizenship or USCIS status is pending.
