Require proof of the identity of the person making application for SNAP. If the applicant cannot prove identity, write in the case comments that the applicant cannot prove identity and process the application using regular processing timeframes.
Waive other proofs when the SNAP household cannot provide them within the expedited timeframe. See PM 02-07-01, PM 03-02-03-d on National Accuracy Clearinghouse data match with other states to prevent duplicate SNAP assistance.
If a person asks for help in getting needed proof from a third party, promptly contact that party.
Acceptable documents to prove identity and residence include, but are not limited to a:
- driver's license or State ID card;
- work or school ID;
- voter registration card; or
- birth certificate.
