Summary

Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) granted special permission for the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) to correct any Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) SNAP applications from the Spring 2019-2020 school year that were denied in error.


  • The Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) SNAP applications of households who were denied benefits in error are now being reviewed and their eligibility for benefits may be corrected. P-EBT benefits will be issued in the month of February 2021 for these households.  Eligibility for the 2019-2020 P-EBT benefits followed the same guidance from the prior school year.
  • Approximately 1.2 million children in Illinois have qualified for P-EBT benefits since August 2020.
