January 2021 Report

The 2020 Census Office report for January 2020 includes updates regarding: COVID-19, Census program FY21 budget, grant allocations and distributions, and Census Office next steps.

Census FY 21 Budget: $14.5 million was appropriated to the Census Office for FY21 to continue outreach, education, and questionnaire assistance efforts. Below is a table that details the allocations made and unused funds as of December 30, 2020.

Illinois 2020 Census Office Next Steps: The Census Office is in the process of closing out the 2020 Census program which entails various steps including but not limited to:

  • receiving and reviewing individual grantee final program and fiscal reports;
  • final grantee contract close out;
  • drafting and editing of final FY 20 and FY21 census program reports;
  • drafting of the final fiscal report for the overall program operations; and
  • applying Census lessons learned to IDHS programs involving community work and hard-to-reach populations.

A final self-response rate report has been posted to the Census Office website. A comprehensive Census Office report will be posted in the spring of 2021.
