DDD COVID-19 Communication, December 9, 2020

The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Division of Developmental Disabilities, in conjunction with Illinois Partners for Human Service (Illinois Partners) will be distributing non-NIOSH-approved surgical face coverings or masks to any IDHS community-based provider organizations in need, free of charge.

As a reminder, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) issued clarifying guidance on the use of these imported KN95 masks, which are not approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). In that guidance, which is attached to this communication, IDPH recommends using these masks as crisis alternatives-with equal or greater effectiveness-to medical procedure or cloth masks.

Interested providers must complete the online request form linked below. A confirmation email will be sent within 24 hours of submission of the request form.

On the request form, each provider will be required to choose from one of five distribution sites in order to pick-up the masks. Each of the sites will have specified pick-up days/times when providers can come to the site to collect their requested KN95 masks.

The five distribution/pick-up sites are as follows:

  • Quad Cities Open Network - Moline
  • Spero Family Services - Mt. Vernon
  • Arrowleaf - Vienna
  • EP!C - Peoria
  • Instituto Del Progreso Latino - Chicago

Beginning next Tuesday, December 15, 2020 and Wednesday, December 16, 2020 (based on the site's designated pick-up hours), providers will be able to pick-up their requested masks, as long as a confirmation email has been received. Additionally, please be aware that each of the above sites has a limited supply of masks.
