Listening Session and Strategic Discussion Series: Virtual Tour:
The Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network and the Prevention Technology Transfer Center Network facilitated a national online discussion and resource sharing opportunity in April, May and July (2020) for the substance use prevention, treatment and recovery workforces focused on emerging issues around social determinants of health and COVID-19. Grief Sensitivity Virtual Learning Institute:
The MHTTC Network announced an upcoming two-part virtual learning series, Grief Sensitivity Virtual Learning Institute. This series is geared towards providing front-line workers with tools and strategies that can be used when addressing the needs of individuals experiencing grief and loss during COVID-19 and beyond.
September 10 and 11th: Part 1 - Grounding ourselves in the basics (11am-4:45pm CT)
November 12 and 13th: Part 2 - Applying concepts to practice (11am-4:45pm CT)
How Right Now Initiative:
The How Right Now initiative aims to address people's feelings of grief, loss and worry during the COVID-19 pandemic. It offers information and support to help people cope and be resilient during this time. This initiative is made possible with funding through the CDC Foundation. Substance Use and Pregnancy Certificate Program:
The Substance Use and Pregnancy Certificate Program provides evidence-based information on substance use and pregnancy and provides the framework to understand the short and long-term effects of a variety of drugs on mother and child. This certificate program supplements other professional training and provides an opportunity to develop and Action Plan to take back to an agency to strengthen opportunities for clients and their families. This training is designed for treatment and other social services providers offering services for women with substance use disorders.
Upon successful completion of activities, participants will earn a Substance Use and Pregnancy Certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

WI CONNECT ECHO 2020:
Wisconsin CONNECT ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a collaboration between the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Center for Urban Population Health, Wisconsin Association for Perinatal Care and women-specific substance use treatment programs in Wisconsin. ECHO is an opportunity for women's substance use treatment providers to come together with clinician who provide medical care to women with substance use disorders to learn and share information and strategies to improve the lives of women, their children and their families. The ECHO is conducted monthly for 1 hour and includes a brief educational presentation on a topic of interest, a case presentation by a collaborator, and a discussion on strategies that can help the provider offer the best possible care for the client/patient.
The sessions take place the 2nd Thursday of every month from 11:00am-12:00pm (CT).

October 8: Caring for Acute and Chronic Medical Conditions in Substance Use Treatment Programs

Recovery Residences Registry:
A reminder to recovery residences to register in the Recovery Residences Registry at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RR2019. The registration process allows Recovery Homes, Oxford Houses and other non-licensed sober living environments to update their information and make sure they are listed correctly on the registry. Information in the registry helps IDHS/SUPR better understand recovery residences' capacity and support for Medication Assisted Treatment. If you partner with a residence that is not listed, please invite them to register and/or contact Jennifer.Jennings@illinois.gov to list the organization. Rural Community Toolbox:
The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy recently launched a new resource to support rural communities impacted by drug addiction. The Rural Community Toolbox is an on-line, interactive clearinghouse that helps rural leaders connect to funding, technical assistance and information resources for addiction from 16 federal departments and agencies all in one place. Also housed on the site, and released at the same time, is an updated Community Assessment Tool new data points include: Persistent Poverty, Broadband access, Economic Development Districts, SAMHSA approved Substance Use and Mental Health Facilities and a Prosperity Index.
OCR Updates:
As of August 31, 2020, 24,982 persons with opioid use disorder (OUD) have been served through these Opioid Crisis Response (OCR) Grants. Updated OCR accomplishments are summarized each month at https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=105980.
