March 12-20 An invitation to respond online to the 2020 Census. (Some households will also receive paper questionnaires.)
March 16-24 A reminder letter sent
March 26-April 3 For non-respondents (NR): A reminder postcard.
On or before March 31 After the funding of grant recipients and on or before March 31, 2020, the Co- Directors, with advice from the Panel, shall identify any areas of further need. Based on identified areas of further need, the Co-Directors shall determine whether to increase existing grant funding to Regional Intermediaries and/or provide grants to new grantees to address identified needs.
April 1 CENSUS DAY
April 8-16 For NR: A reminder letter and paper questionnaire.
April 20-27 For NR: A final reminder postcard before Census follows up in person.
July 2020 Fiscal Year 2021 begins and FY 21 grants with Regional Intermediaries are executed.
Aug 11-- Sept 30, 2020 Enumerator follow up to NR
September 30, 2020* Self-response option ends (all enumeration ends)
December 2020 U.S. Census Bureau transmits state population and congressional apportionment data to the President
March 2021 Redistricting data released to the states

 *On August 3, 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau issued a statement that it will end field data collection by September 30, 2020 - one month prior to the previous proposed deadline extension of October 31, 2020.
