IDHS/SUPR - Sponsored Trainings

The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) is sponsoring a series of trainings between March and June 2020 to enhance the skills, abilities, and knowledge of counselors, clinical supervisors and administrators providing and supervising substance use disorder treatment.

The upcoming trainings are as follows:

  • American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria: 2-day training
  • ASAM Criteria Implementation Leader: 3-day training
  • Individualized Services Plans Using ASAM Criteria and Motivational Interviewing (ISP): 2-day training
  • Co-occurring Disorder Program Assessment: 1-day workshop
  • Peer Recovery Coaching: 5-day training
  • IDHS/SUPR Webinars: Required for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs)
  • IDHS/SUPR Webinar: Treatment Needs Questionnaire

To register, please visit the Prevention First website. IDHS/SUPR strongly encourages the authorized organization representatives (AORs) to share training information with key clinical staff and support their participation in the upcoming trainings. Registration will remain open until all training slots are filled. IDHS/SUPR cannot expand the number of slots available for each training. Therefore, early registration is highly encouraged. For more information about each training, please review the IDHS/SUPR Sponsored Trainings attachment.

Staff who participate in the trainings are expected to bring the information back to the organization and relay important concepts and practices that were learned during the training session. AORs should provide an opportunity for their staff to educate their coworkers and use the training materials to adapt and/or adopt new and enhanced clinical practices.

Additionally, AORs and other leadership staff are encouraged to attend trainings - specifically the ASAM Implementation Leader and Co-occurring Disorders Program Assessment trainings which are designed for decision makers.

These trainings are free and CEUs are offered. We hope that you and your staff take advantage of this opportunity and find these trainings beneficial in the provision of your treatment services. If your organization is interested in other technical assistance or training, please contact Kimberly Fornero, Administrator of Compliance and Monitoring, at Kimberly.Fornero@illinois.gov.
