Summary:
- The Grant Adjustment and the Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates are being increased as a result of the 1.6% cost of living increase in January 2020 SSI payments.
- The Grant Adjustment is increased by $12.00 to $604.90 effective 01/01/2020. Use the new amount for any AABD Cash case approved after 11/17/2019.
- The Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates are increased by $12.00 effective 01/01/2020. Use the new amounts for any AABD Cash case approved after 11/17/2019.
- The system will centrally change the Grant Adjustment and the Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates for all AABD Cash cases on the regular rolls for January 2020.
- For AABD Medical customers receiving shelter care, or personal care or nursing care in a home not subject to licensing, use the increased rates as follows:
- At intake, for all determinations made for January 2020 or later.
- For active cases, at the next redetermination of eligibility, whenever income or resources are recalculated, or whenever medical expenses are presented to meet spenddown for January 2020.
INTRODUCTION
Due to the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) 1.6% cost of living increase, effective January 2020 the Grant Adjustment Rate, the Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates will increase.
Grant Adjustment Increase - AABD Cash
Beginning January 2020, the Grant Adjustment allowance is increased by $12 to $604.90. This allows the SSI increase to be passed on to the AABD Cash customers without reducing their AABD benefit amounts. Use the new Grant Adjustment for all AABD Cash cases approved on or after 11/17/2019. IES will centrally change all active cases on the regular rolls for January as part of the monthly central budgeting process.
Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care Rate Increase
The rates for individuals living in a shelter care facility, or who receive personal care or nursing care in homes not subject to licensing, is increased by $12.00 beginning January 2020. The Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates are based on a point count which is determined by individual care needs, and on county of residence.
AABD Cash (Active)
For AABD Medical customers receiving shelter care, or personal care or nursing care in a home not subject to licensing, use the increased rates as follows:
- At intake, for all determinations made for January 2020 or later.
- For active cases, at the next redetermination of eligibility, whenever income or resources are recalculated, or whenever medical expenses are presented to meet spenddown for January 2020 or later.
AABD Cash and Medical - Applications in IES
IES will budget the new Grant Adjustment and Shelter Care Rate effective 01/01/2020 for AABD cash and 01/01/2020 for AABD Medical.
