The Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR), as established by the Substance Use Disorder Act, provides licensing and funding of gambling treatment services and funding of prevention, and recovery services across the state. IDHS/SUPR also provides training for gambling clinical providers, a public awareness campaign on gambling disorder, a hotline and website for individuals seeking gambling treatment (each of which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week), and research/needs assessments on gambling disorder.
IDHS/SUPR has just completed the first Illinois Gambling Needs Assessment to better understand the impact of gambling disorder on and needs of Illinois citizens. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER or text ILGAMB to 83324. You can also visit https://weknowthefeeling.org for more information about problem gambling and how to increase awareness and action on problem gambling. Providers who want to help raise awareness, can order printed materials from IDHS/SUPR or download them from the website.
