Individuals who are not State Employees, and who do not have or need Illinois.gov email, can register for an External Illinois.gov Account.
An External Illinois.gov accounts does not include email, but can be used to log in to a number of State of Illinois systems, including OneNetTraining, etc.
Here's how to request one:
Create Your Account
- Go to ID.Illinois.gov
- Click the Create Illinois.gov Account link.
- Follow the instructions provided to create your account.
- The system will provide you an Illinois.gov Username. Write it down.
- Once you have your username, go back to ID.Illinois.gov and click the Account Recovery Options link.
- Follow the instructions to set your recovery options so you can recover your password if you forget it.
- Email your External Illinois.gov Username to your State of Illinois Agency contact so they can connect your account to the specific system(s) you will use.
Note: If you are unable to create an account because you don't have an Illinois Driver's License or the system cannot validate your information, email your name, address, and phone number to your State of Illinois contact and they will submit a request to create the account for you.
Recover Your Password
If you forget your password, and you set your Account Recovery Options as instructed above, you can reset your password yourself:
- Go to ID.Illinois.gov
- Click the Reset your Password or Unlock your Account link.
- Follow the instructions provided to recover your password using the options you set.
