Policy Statement:
Child care services received by a family must be reasonably related to the hours of training/employment including the transportation needs of the family.
Procedures:
Consider the amount of time it takes the client to travel between the child care setting and the work/training/education activity when determining the child care schedule.
The requested time allowance for transportation is to be reasonable. What is reasonable is situation specific.
If the travel time seems unreasonable, request documentation to support the time allowance. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, mileage, bus and/or train schedules.
