Eligibility/How to Apply?

IDHS - CCAP Family Eligibility Guidelines

To qualify for the program an applicant must:

  • Live in Illinois
  • Be employed and/or going to an eligible educational activity (High school, trade school, undergraduate college...)
  • Have children younger than 13 that need care while you are working or going to school
    • Children with documented special needs may be eligible up to the age of 19
  • Have family income below allowable limits (see http://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=118832 by family size

Do I qualify for Child Care Assistance?

Only the CCR&R or Site Provider can calculate the Total Monthly Income that will be used for determining eligibility for the program. Find your local Child Care Resource and Referral agency (CCR&R) or call 1-877-202-4453 (toll free).

Remember: the provider must decide if they will provide care before the case is approved and how or if to charge the parent while eligibility is being determined.
