Item 63, Status of Parent, is used to identify the status of the parents of a child receiving AABD or TANF. For SNAP Only, and RRA cases always enter 2 dashes in Item 63. Also enter 2 dashes for any adults on Form 552 who are not homebound. For component SNAP members, enter 2 dashes or use the codes listed below.
This item shows the current status of the parents of children in a TANF Cash or All Kids Assist/Moms and Babies case, or AABD Cash or MANG case. This item is also used to identify a homebound adult in a case with children.
Enter a status code for each parent of every child in the case. Two columns are provided, one for the mother and one for the father.
For each child, enter one of the following status codes for any parent not living with the child.

Use when the child lives with one of the parents and the parents were legally married to each other at the time of the child's birth, but are now separated. Use for the absent parent only.

Divorced.
Use when the child lives with one of the parents and the parents were legally married to each other at the time of the child's birth, but they are now divorced. Do not use if the divorce action is pending in court and a final order has not been entered. Use for the absent parent only.

Status unknown.
Use when the caretaker is a single adoptive parent. Use for the absent parent only.

Paternity adjudicated. Parents not married to each other at time of child's birth. Use when paternity has been adjudicated.
Parents were in a Civil Union at the time of the child's birth, and both partners are named as parents on the child's birth certificate. This applies equally to same sex and opposite sex partners in a Civil Union.
Use for the absent parent only.

Determination of Good Cause Pending.
Use for the absent parent only. When it is determined that Good Cause exists, change to Code 26. If Good Cause does not exist, change to Code 19, 20, 21, 22, or 31.

Exempt from Cooperation with Support Enforcement due to a Determination of Good Cause.
Use for the absent parent only. If a determination is made that good cause no longer exists, change to Code 19, 20, 21, 22, 30, or 31.

Use when the parents have completed the voluntary acknowledgment of paternity process. Use for the absent parent only.

Use when the mother cooperates at a Family Community Resource Center paternity interview and paternity is not established.

Status Unknown.
Use when an interview is not required to process a All Kids application and the father's status is unknown.

NOTE: Codes 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 30, and 31 automatically generate a referral to the Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE). A referral is not generated when a component SNAP unit member is coded 19, 20, 21, 22, or 24.

- acknowledgment in open court, or
- legal presumption of paternity (his marriage to the mother after the child's birth and the appearance of his name as father on the child's birth certificate); or
- a child's adoptive parent living in the home.
- a parent who was in a Civil Union with the child's natural or adoptive parent at the time of the child's birth, and who is named as a parent on the child's birth certificate

Paternity established in the Family Community Resource Center and the father is in the home. Parents not married to each other when the child was born.
Use this code for the father when the mother and alleged father of a child live together, and both have completed the voluntary acknowledgment of paternity process.
NOTE: Add the father to the case and determine ongoing eligibility.

Child Lives Alone
Enter for both parents when the child does not live with a caretaker relative.
Enter one of the following codes for each adult on Form 552.
