The amount of any benefits that a customer was entitled to but did not receive.
unearned income
All income other than that received as wages, salary, or profit from self-employment.
unit
A legacy term which refers to a person or group of persons who receives benefits under a specific program. For example, a TANF unit refers to all persons who receive TANF under the same identification number. A SNAP unit refers to all people who receive SNAP under the same identification number.
USDA
USDA is the abbreviation for the United States Department of Agriculture. The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), a part of USDA, administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
A series of tests conducted by users or people familiar with a business process to determine if a computer system functions properly and meets requirements of a specification or contract. Each individual test, known as a case, exercises a particular operating condition of the user's environment or feature of the system, and will result in a pass or fail outcome.
utilization control
A joint process undertaken by HFS and the Department of Public Health (DPH) to review patient care and payment levels for nursing homes. The review process consists of a point count, medical review, and utilization review.
