Handle any award a client gets for a personal injury as lump sum income. See PM 08-01-08-a for TANF, PM 08-02-07 for AABD, and PM 08-03-07-a for GA. Allow 3 deductions from the lump sum amount:

• Any costs related to receiving the award. This includes attorney's fees and court costs.
• Medical expenses paid by the client to treat the injury.
• Expenses to repair or replace any personal property damaged as a result of the injury. This would include repair or replacement of a car.
