WAG 24-02-04-b: Determination of Good Cause

PM 24-02-04-b.

(FCRC) Determine if the client has a good cause reason to be exempt. Base a determination of good cause upon the proof provided. Document in the case record the verifications used in making the determination.

1. When a good cause claim is made and the client does not have verification at the time of the interview, enter code 25, Determination of Good Cause Pending, in Item 63 on Form 552. Allow the client 20 days from the date the good cause claim is made to provide verification.
   1. Make a determination of good cause within 45 days of the date the claim is made. If verification is received, change Item 63 to code 26, Exempt from Cooperation with Support.
2. If the client does not have good cause, review the Key Information System (KIDS) to determine if DCSE has started the paternity process. If not, complete a paternity interview.
