If DHS receives a Federal crossmatch report, such as the "Unearned Income Match", showing there may be an overpayment of benefits, get proof of an overpayment from a third party. If you get a crossmatch that shows a client might have an overpayment, do not report it until you get proof or the client admits the match is correct. Valid third party proof can be from the income source or someone like a banker who knows that the match information is correct.
NOTE: This process does not apply to AWVS or IDES matches. Information from these matches is considered correct; the client has to prove that it is not.
