PM 20-01-01: Freedom of Choice

WAG 20-01-01.

Clients can go to any medical provider who accepts payment from HFS. If an TANF client chooses to be enrolled in a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), their choice will be restricted to medical providers approved by the HMO.

Clients can accept or reject any type of medical care or treatment, except:

• an TANF client who is blind or disabled must accept treatment recommended by HFS or the Department of Rehabilitation Services; and
• an AABD client must submit to redetermination exams required by Social Security to prove continuing disability.
