revised manual textSNAP REDE Interview

  • An interview is scheduled for all REDEs when a SNAP household files its REDE application.
  • If the SNAP REDE is completed at the same time as a REDE for cash benefits, a separate interview does not have to be scheduled.
    • Note: The FCRC may schedule a SNAP interview before the REDE application is filed if the household has received its Medical, Cash and/or SNAP Redetermination Notice which informs the household of the expiration of their certification period. Benefits are not denied or canceled if the household fails to appear for an interview that is scheduled before a SNAP REDE application is filed. The redetermination notice informs the household that if they do not reapply, SNAP benefits will end. No additional notice to the household is needed.

revised manual textVerification

  • Verifications are not requested until the interview is held and it is known what proofs the household should provide that the FCRC cannot verify through electronic sources.
  • If there are missing verifications that cannot be obtained through electronic sources, a Verification Checklist is issued to the SNAP household allowing 10 calendar days from the date of the notice to provide the required verifications.
  • If the SNAP household does not provide the required verification (except for proof of expenses) by the 10th calendar day, the SNAP REDE application is denied on the first workday after the 10th calendar day.

revised manual textApplicant Fails to Appear for Interview Appointment

  • If the applicant fails to appear for the scheduled interview, the SNAP application is denied on the next workday following the day of the scheduled interview. Another interview is not scheduled unless requested by the SNAP household.

revised manual textApplicant Requests Another Interview

  • If the SNAP household requests another interview and appears for the interview by the 30th day following the end of the certification period, the application is reopened. See PM 19-03-08.

revised manual textWaiving the Face-to-Face Interview

  • A SNAP household may choose to waive the office interview (see PM 02-06-01-b). If the office interview is waived, the FCRC must conduct a telephone interview or home visit.
