If a family lacks food because of fire, flood, or other disaster; the disaster does not render the family homeless and the need cannot be met through the SNAP Program. (Food cannot be approved to replace lost or stolen SNAP benefits.)
If a family is deprived of food or needed clothing because of lost or stolen cash, the amount issued for lost/stolen cash cannot exceed the amount that was lost and can never exceed the amount of the Payment Level.
Obtain prior approval from the Regional Office when a TANF family requests non-medical needs related to essential medical care and the needs cannot be met through a HFS Medicaid program or another source. Non-medical needs related to essential medical care include food, lodging and transportation.
Do not use Crisis Assistance to pay transportation expenses for routine office visits related to normal medical care.
