WAG 02-08-06: Limits on Receipt of Expedited Service

PM 02-08-06.

When a SNAP unit does not file a timely SNAP REDE application, entitlement to expedited service may exist.

Example: Mr. L applied for and was interviewed for SNAP on 09/19/01. He was entitled to expedited service and was authorized expedited SNAP benefits with a one-month approval period for the September Group 06 fiscal month (09/16 - 10/15). The Notice of Eligibility/Expiration of Certification Period (Form 360C) was dated 09/19. If Mr. L files a timely SNAP REDE application for October (the application is filed before 10/06), the expedited processing timeframe does not apply even if he meets the criteria for expedited service.

If Mr. L files an untimely SNAP REDE application for October, but the September fiscal month has not yet expired (the application was filed between 10/06 and 10/15), do not treat the application as an initial application. The SNAP unit does not qualify for expedited service.

If Mr. L files an untimely SNAP REDE application for October and the September fiscal month has expired (the application is filed after 10/16), treat his application the same as an initial application. He may qualify for expedited service. However, he must provide any previously waived verifications before benefits can be approved.
