Information Memo
Effective January 1, 2016, Health Alliance Connect will no longer be a part of the Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI) program. Clients enrolled in the Health Alliance Connect MMAI plan will be mailed a notice informing them of the change. Clients may choose to enroll in one of the following plans:
- Molina HealthCare of Illinois (the other MMAI plan in Central Illinois); or
- Original Medicare; or
- Medicare Advantage Plan.
Selecting a Plan
Clients who want to enroll in the Molina HealthCare of Illinois MMAI plan may call Illinois Client Enrollment Services at 1-877-912-8880 (TTY: 1-866-565-8576) Monday-Friday from 8am-7pm.
Clients who want to enroll in the Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part D plans may call Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) (TTY: 1-877-486-2048) 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Persons who enroll in Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan will receive Medicaid fee-for-service.
To get more information about fee-for-service Medicaid call the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services Health Benefits Helpline at 1-866-468-7543 (TTY: 1-877-204-1012).
Clients can get free help with their Medicare healthcare needs and options by calling:
- Illinois Department on Aging Senior HelpLine at 1-800-252-8966 (TTY: 1-888-206-1327); or
- Illinois Health Connect at 1-877-912-1999 (TTY: 1-866-565-8577).
Health Alliance Connect will continue to be offered to Family Health Plan and Integrated Care Plan enrollees. Only the Health Alliance Connect MMAI plan is ending.
Deadline to Choose a Plan
Clients who do not choose a plan by December 31, 2015, will be enrolled into fee-for-service Medicaid, Original Medicare fee-for-service, and a Medicare Part D plan effective January 1, 2016.
