Pursuant to the Juvenile Court Act (705 ILCS 405/6-12), each county, or group of counties may establish a county juvenile justice council ("council"). In addition to juvenile justice stakeholders such as the sheriff, the State's Attorney, Chief Probation Officer, the county board, and chief judge, the council may include a wide range of community groups including schools, businesses, and community organizations. The county juvenile justice council shall meet regularly to encourage new or ongoing interagency cooperation and programs to address juvenile delinquency.
