WAG 06-21-04
Medical coverage may be provided for up to 24 continuous months from the initial eligibility date so long as all eligibility factors are met.
A client who has a break in coverage during the 24 months beginning with the initial eligibility date may re-enroll if all eligibility criteria are met. However, the break in coverage does not extend the initial eligibility period.
Exception to the 24 Month Maximum - If the client provides verification that an appeal regarding an application for asylum is pending, eligibility under this program may be extended until the earlier of either: 1) the month a final decision is made, or 2) 12 months beyond the initial 24 month eligibility period. In no case shall eligibility under this program exceed 36 months.
Review eligibility for other medical programs before canceling AATV. Recipients who reach the maximum AATV eligibility period, and who have not yet received a decision regarding their application for asylum, may qualify for medical benefits under the 'Non-citizen Victims of Trafficking, Torture or Other Serious Crimes' program (see PM 06-30-00).
