If noncitizen children who have eligible nonimmigrant visas also have an Alien Registration Number, they are required to provide proof of the Alien Registration Number. If the federal data Hub or the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) does not verify the Alien Registration Number provided for a child who meets citizenship/immigration requirements or a nonimmigrant child with an eligible visa, do not deny benefits and do not require an SSN. If an Alien Registration Number is not available, go to Additional Verification in SAVE and enter the 11 digit number listed on the I-94 record. If the SAVE response is to Institute Additional Verification, or the Alien Registration Number produces conflicting information, refer to WAG 03-01-06-d.
For noncitizen children who are lawfully present in the U.S. and have documentation, use code 39 in Item 74.
For noncitizen children who are undocumented, have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status, or do not meet any other immigration criteria listed in PM 03-01-02, use Code 55 in Item 74.
