Offense Prior to 08/22/96	First violation - 6 months 2nd violation - 12 months 3rd violation - permanently	First violation - 6 months First violation for trading benefits for a controlled substance -12 months First violation of trading benefits for firearms, ammunition, or explosives - permanently 2nd violation - 12 months 2nd violation of trading benefits for a controlled substance - permanently 3rd violation - permanently
Offense on or after 08/22/96	First violation - 12 months 2nd violation - 24 months 3rd violation - permanently	First violation - 12 months First violation for trading benefits for a controlled substance -24 months First violation of trading benefits for firearms, ammunition, or explosives, or trafficking SNAP benefits of $500 or more - permanently 2nd violation - 24 months 2nd violation of trading benefits for a controlled substance - permanently 3rd violation - permanently
Offense on or after 11/01/02	A person is disqualified for 10 years if being convicted of making a false statement or misrepresenting their identity or place of residence in order to receive more than one food stamp issuance at the same time.	A person is disqualified for 10 years if being convicted of making a false statement or misrepresenting their identity or place of residence in order to receive more than one SNAP issuance at the same time.

NOTE: Trafficking is defined as the buying, selling, or stealing SNAP benefits or selling food bought with SNAP benefits.
