Item 78, Type of Benefit, describes the benefits received by each person listed on Form 552. Item 78 is used for all Cash cases, Assist, Moms and Babies, AABD Medical, AATV and SNAP.

Cash Cases
Person receives cash only (includes zero grant), cash and SNAP, or SNAP only (includes zero grant). Use to stop medical for an adult who fails to cooperate with medical support rights or child support enforcement.
Entered on an RRA Cash case that is approved in IES for a recipient who receives medical benefits on a separate ACA Adult case.
Use to stop medical for an adult on a TANF or AABD cash case who fails to cooperate citizenship and identity documentation requirements. Suppress the centrally generated notice, and send Form 157 with the following message: "You did not provide proof of your identity or U.S. citizenship. PM 03-01"
FamilyCare Assist
Person receives no medical or receives only SNAP due to child support sanction imposed while receiving cash.

Person receives SNAP via this Form 552 and cash via another Form 552. This includes a person who receives cash in a presumptively eligible (PE) case and a payee not in the unit. Enter a cross-reference case ID number in Item 60. |

Changing a Person's Benefit Status
To change Item 78 from a dash or 4 to a 7 or 8, or from a 7 or 8 to a dash or 4, process a TA 34/TAR 03. For complete instructions on changing a person's benefit status, see WAG 18-04-12 or WAG 18-04-13.
To change Item 78 from 7 to 8 or from 8 to 7, use TA 31.
