Use the following codes to identify the work status of each person in the unit. Persons age 16 through 59, and minor parents under age 16, must have a number or letter code.
This code is not for Family Community Resource Center entry. Centrally entered for each person age 16 through 59 for whom a number code is not entered. Enter the correct code at the next action.
NOTE: Code zero is centrally changed as follows:
Student Status.
Enter for each child age 16 through 18, and any child under 16 who is a parent, in full-time attendance at an elementary school, high school (grades 9-12), or equivalent vocational/technical school.
NOTE: For children age 16 years one month through 17 years in the City of Chicago, the system automatically enters a B if the CBE match has a leave code of 36, 42, 44, 45, 60, 61, 64, or 65 and Item 68 is not coded 4 or 8.
Barrier to meeting requirement (RRA Cash Only).
The medical condition of another household member requires this person's full-time care.
Exempt from requirement.
Personally cares for child under age one in the case. The system automatically enters a 9 when the youngest child reaches age one. Do not enter for a minor parent under 20 who does not have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
NOTE: If the child needing care is not in the unit, use code 4.
Nonexempt.
Person required to participate in work and training activity (or with Refugee Job Placement Agency or Job Service for RRA customers).
Family Care Barrier - Care of Child (TANF Only).
Person approved by CAU to care for child under 18 due to medical condition. Requires Item 80 code 156 DRD and stops TANF counter.
Minor parent under 20 without high school diploma or GED who would otherwise be exempt due to care of a child under one.
The system automatically changes the code to 9 when the youngest child reaches age one. When a minor parent coded P reaches age 20 or completes high school, the system enters code 7 if no one else is coded 7.
Family Care Barrier - Care of Spouse (TANF Only).
Person approved by CAU to care for spouse due to medical condition. Requires Item 80 code 156 DRD and stops TANF counter.
