Federal Minimum Wage

The federal minimum wage is increased to $7.25 effective 07/24/2009.

The federal minimum wage ($5.15) was used to calculate the hours of participation in TANF from 09/01/1997 through 10/16/2005.

State Minimum Wage

Effective 01/01/2023, the state minimum wage is $13.00 per hour. State law requires that the state or federal minimum wage, whichever is higher, be used to determine hours of participation in TANF. The following chart lists various wage amounts based on the current state minimum wage ($13.00) times the number of hours worked.
