At Point of Sale (POS) terminals, the Illinois Link card is scanned through a reader, PIN entered, and the purchase total or cash withdrawal amount entered. The amount of the food purchase or cash withdrawal is immediately subtracted from the client's Illinois Link account.

Cash benefit withdrawals can be made at most ATMs statewide.

To make a cash withdrawal from an ATM, the client places (or scans) the Illinois Link card in the machine, enters the PIN, selects the checking option, and enters an amount for withdrawal.
