PM 20-08-04-a: Second Opinion

WAG 20-08-04-a.

When the screening decision is that the person does not need LTC, a second opinion can be requested. The request can be made by the applicant, his or her representative, or the applicant's medical care provider.

An HFS designated physician gives the second opinion and may change the original decision or concur with it. Approve payment for care if the decision is that NH or SLF care is needed. Do not approve payment for care if the decision is that LTC care is not needed.
