(FCRC) Use the letters PPP in Item 8 of Form 552 when a protective payment plan is set up because the client:
- demonstrated financial mismanagement;
- is convicted of fraud (criminal violation of the Public Aid Code); or
- is determined as having neglected a child(ren) in the benefit unit.
NOTE: When there is reason to suspect a child has been subjected to abuse or neglect, notify DCFS (see WAG 01-05-01).
Who Can Serve as Protective Payee
A volunteer protective payee can serve as payee. This payee can be:
- a relative of the caretaker relative;
- a friend of the caretaker relative; or
- a designee from a community agency.
A FCRC protective payee can serve as payee when:
- the case is in a county other than Cook County; and
- a volunteer protective payee is not available.
The Protective Payee Service Unit (PPSU) can serve as payee when:
- the case is in Cook County; and
- a volunteer protective payee is not available.
