A funding opportunity is available for West Side and South Side Opioid and Heroin Taskforce(s). The purpose of the taskforces is to organize all operations of the taskforce, working primarily to assemble and engage community members and stakeholders in a collaborative campaign that includes outreach, education, harm reduction, and referral activities. The community must be involved in every aspect of the work; activities must demonstrate cultural humility and accountability and be informed by an understanding and consideration of traumatic experiences (e.g. early childhood, historical, cultural, primary, and secondary).
A total of ??5,250,000 is available to be awarded for West Side and South Side Opioid and Heroin Taskforce(s) over a period of 3 years. Up to 2 organizations may be funded. The anticipated award range is up to ??875,000 for each geographical area (West Side or South Side) per period of performance. The initial period will span July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025. The deadline to apply for the grants is May 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. CST.
The Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) has selected a Regional Care Coordination Agency (RCCA) to administer the grant. The source of the funding is the 20% allocated to IDHS through Public Act 101-0027 for these types of activities.
The RCCA, which is operated by Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP), has posted the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) on the Illinois Regional Care Coordinating Agency website on the Funding Opportunities page. Applications must be prepared and submitted using the online portal on the RCCA website. Interested applicants are encouraged to begin the process as soon as possible to ensure sufficient time to complete pre-qualification and pre-award requirements.
Continued funding is subject to appropriations and release of funds by the Illinois Department of Human Services. AHP is responsible for issuing and monitoring subawards. AHP must issue awards based on AHP's contracting periods with the State of Illinois. Funding periods for a notice of award (NOA) follow the State Fiscal Year (SFY). The notice of award date is the anticipated date that an award letter would be received by a potential subrecipient (i.e., awardee).
