Summer EBT Non-Streamlined Certification
Households with children that do not meet the streamlined certification process for Summer EBT eligibility will be required to complete an application with the
Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). The children must have attended a school that participated in the National School Lunch Program during the school year ending at the start of the annual
Summer Operational Period (SOP) and filed a Summer EBT application with IDHS by the end of the SOP and were deemed eligible.
Applications may be filed online via the Summer EBT Portal or by completing a paper Application for Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT).
Applications for Summer EBT are for Summer EBT only, they cannot be used to apply for Cash, SNAP, or Medical assistance. See PM 02-04-00 for program application procedures.
Summer EBT Applications that Need Additional Information
Applications will be processed by the Statewide Programs Initiative Office. If additional information is needed to process the application, a Verification of School Attendance form may be sent to households by Summer EBT workers at the Statewide Programs Initiative Office to help verify guardianship, school name, enrollment status and/or address on file with the school.
Summer EBT Income Verification Checklist may also be sent for applications selected For Cause, see PM 06-39-02-a.
NOTE:
Households that would like their child/children to receive Summer EBT benefits can also apply for Cash, SNAP, and/or Medicaid through IDHS through the end of the
SOP and will be automatically enrolled in Summer EBT if they are approved for SNAP, TANF/AABD Cash, or federally funded Medicaid and have income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
