Only use a qualifying member's medical expenses when determining if the SNAP unit is entitled to use a Standard Medical Deduction or actual expenses. Except for reimbursable medical expenses, use medical expenses in the month the expense is first billed or becomes due.
There are 2 kinds of medical expenses and each kind is used differently when computing net SNAP income. The 2 kinds of medical expenses are:
- medical expenses billed to the unit that are not reimbursable; and
- medical expenses incurred by the unit that are totally or partially reimbursable.
