  1. Program Description
Redeploy Illinois funding gives counties financial support to provide comprehensive services to delinquent youth, ages 13 to 18, in their home communities instead of sending youth to the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ). The program allows counties to cost effectively serve youth locally and reduce their reliance on IDJJ. Community-based services for delinquent youth are more effective and less expensive than a sentence to secure confinement for many youths. Youth are connected to needed services and supports within his or her home community, as indicated through an individualized needs assessment. Services are provided in the least restrictive manner possible and include, but are not limited to, case management, court advocacy, education assistance, individual, family and/or group counseling, and crisis intervention.
