Information Memo
Effective January 2024, the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) performed an update to reflect the 2024 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Social Security benefits. Eligibility was only ran on Long Term Care (LTC), Aid to the Aged, Blind, or Disabled (AABD) Unmet Type of Assistance (TOA), and any other TOA with a public health emergency (PHE) redetermination completed and/or with override end dates entered.
Due to the PHE, IES will update case information only and will NOT run eligibility based on the COLA for all other Medical EDG(s).
A COLA exclusion is applied for non LTC TOAs until the 2024 federal poverty level (FPL) has been updated. The COLA exclusion is the 2024 income subtracted from the 2023 income. The exclusion is added because the income was increased by COLA but the FPL limits have not been updated yet. This only applies to Social Security benefits.
