IMPORTANT- Update to October 30th Smart Alert: Attention! Attention!

There is an important update to the Smart Alert titled COVID-19 Mitigation Supplies Available Again in FY24, sent on October 30th. Please note that the updated deadline to order FY24 supplies is Friday, June 7, 2024. This deadline is subject to change depending on the number of supplies available and participation. We are excited to share this opportunity with you and appreciate your efforts to maintain a COVID-safe environment as you provide services to Illinois residents.

CapMan Reporting:

SUPR launched the new Capacity Management System (CapMan) in 2019. Since then, we have recognized that transitioning from the previous non-operational system to the current system continues to be challenging for many organizations. Therefore, we are releasing training and technical assistance opportunities in the coming weeks and months to ensure compliance with daily reporting requirements for Level of Care 3.5 and opioid treatment programs (OTPs). We urge you to review your organization's CapMan policy and procedures to ensure compliance with CapMan reporting requirements.

The CapMan system ensures that the State is responsive to the SUD treatment needs of Illinois residents and provides additional functionality for priority populations (e.g., pregnant women/people, women with dependent children) when there is a waiting list for services. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with our treatment organizations and improving compliance with CapMan.

Substance Use Prevention Program Expansions:

SUPR recently approved new substance use prevention programs expansions, including 14 Youth Prevention Education expansions to 4th through 5th grade, 3 expansions for substance use prevention services for youth whose parents use substances, and 2 expansions for substance use prevention services for emerging adults (aged 18 to 25 years)!

2023 ROSC Conference:

On October 17th and 18th, all 43 Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) Councils covering 57 counties convened in Springfield for their bi-annual in-person meeting. Over 100 participants each day representing ROSC Councils and Recovery Community Organizations (RCO) learned about the recent National Survey on Drug Use and Health data regarding people in recovery; recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies; what distinguishes ROSC from RCO work; and how stigma and language choices can impact people who use drugs or have a substance use disorder.

Participants got to collaborate and network with others in their cohort and region, as well as SUPR staff over various projects, including Matthew Grey with Criminal Justice and Deflection, Jim Wilkerson with Problem Gambling; Anthony Wanless with SOR's Access Narcan and MAR NOW projects, and Aisha Esquivel from the Illinois Helpline. Many participants commented that this was the best ROSC in-person collaborative to date! We will be meeting in Chicago in May; please let Johanna Gonzalez (Johanna.Gonzalez@illinois.gov) know if you'd be interested in talking about your projects in SUPR!

Recovery Trainings:

IDHS/SUPR has partnered with Faces and Voices of Recovery to assist in the expansion of recovery community organizations (RCO) across the state.

Part of this expansion involves providing free trainings to providers and community stakeholders on recovery topics. For more information about Faces and Voices Illinois project, training calendars, and registration information, please visit Illinois Recovery Project.

Please share these trainings widely within your agencies and communities. If you have questions or would like to discuss starting a recovery community organization in your community, please contact Kim Sriner at Kimberly.Sriner@illinois.gov .

The state's public health emergency (PHE) ended on May 11, 2023, aligning the state with the federal government's decision to end the PHE.

Recovery Residences Registry

The IDHS/SUPR Recovery Residence Registry has been moved to the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances to simplify public inquiries for Recovery Residence. Information in the registry helps IDHS/SUPR better understand recovery residences' capacity and support for Medication Assisted Recovery. If you partner with a residence that is not listed, please invite them to register and/or contact Kimberly.Sriner@illinois.gov to list the organization. Search the Recovery Residences Registry at any time
