Interest

  1. Tell the customer they may choose one of the following for budgeting interest income:
    • actual budget month interest income,
    • a prorated amount obtained by dividing total anticipated interest by the number of months the interest will be received, or
    • an averaged amount adjusted for any known differences from the average.
  2. Document the method chosen in the case record.

Trust Fund

Count income withdrawn or received from an inaccessible trust fund in the month received or the month it is available to the SNAP unit.

Other Income

Count any other income not specifically exempted as unearned income, except income affected by noncompliance (see WAG 08-04-05).

Verification must be received to exempt the $50 or $1000 monthly gift. Enter Unearned Income type Other Exempt on the Unearned Income-Details page in IES.

Chicago Resilient Communities Income Pilot

Monies received from the Chicago Resilient Communities Income Pilot program are considered as exempt other unearned income for SNAP eligibility. Verification must be received to exempt the $500 monthly cash gift. In IES, enter Unearned Income type Other Exempt on the Unearned Income-Details page.

Evanston Guaranteed Income Pilot

Monies received from the Evanston Guaranteed Income Pilot are considered as exempt other unearned income for SNAP eligibility. Verification must be received, when questionable, to exempt the $500 monthly cash gift. In IES, enter Unearned Income type Other Exempt on the Unearned Income-Details page.

Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot

Monies received from the Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot are considered as exempt other unearned income for SNAP eligibility. Verification must be received, if questionable, to exempt the $500 monthly cash gift. In IES, enter Other Exempt as the unearned income type on the Unearned Income-Details page.

Illinois Stability Investment for Family Housing Pilot: Round One and Round Two

Monies received from the Illinois Stability Investment for Family Housing (SIFH) pilot are considered as exempt other unearned income for SNAP eligibility. Verification must be received, if questionable, to exempt the one time cash payment of at least $500 and up to $10,000. In IES, select Other Exempt as the Unearned Income type from the dropdown on the Unearned Income-Details page.

Monies received from the Affording Survival Guaranteed Income Pilot are considered as exempt other unearned income for Food Assistance eligibility. Verification must be received, if questionable, to exempt the monthly cash payment of $1,000.
