Community Service

  • Since Community Service is not a SNAP E & T component the number of hours a person must perform in community service each month to meet the SNAP Work Requirement is an average of 20 hours per week (80 hours per month).
  • Because it is not a SNAP E&T component, customers participating in Community Service are not eligible for supportive services. new manual textThe SNAP Activity Report (Form IL444-2610) is used when the Work Requirement Time-Limited Benefits is in effect to verify the work hours at the start of when a customer volunteers with an approved Community Service Provider. Verification should not be requested on a weekly or monthly basis. It is the SNAP household's responsibility to report a change in the volunteer's work status.
