Summary:

  • The Aid to the Aged, Blind and Disabled (AABD) Grant Adjustment, the Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates are being increased because of the 8.7% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for 2023.
  • The AABD Grant Adjustment is increased by $73 to $735.90 effective 01/01/2023. The new Grant Adjustment amount is currently available in IES for AABD Cash.
  • The Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates are increased by $73 effective 01/01/2023. The new rate amounts are currently available in IES.
  • IES was updated with the new Grant Adjustment, the Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates for active AABD Cash cases.

Introduction

Due to the 8.7% COLA for SSI payments in 2023 the AABD Grant Adjustment, Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates will increase.

Grant Adjustment Increase - AABD Cash

Effective 01/01/2023 the Grant Adjustment allowance will increase by $73 to $735.90. This allows the SSI increase to be passed on to the AABD cash customers without reducing their AABD cash benefit amount. Workers will use the new Grant Adjustment amount for all AABD Cash cases effective 01/01/2023. IES was updated with the new Grant Adjustment amount on active AABD cash cases effective 01/01/2023.

Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care Rate Increase

Effective 01/01/2023 the rates for individuals living in a Shelter Care facility, or who receive Personal Care and Nursing Care in homes not subject to licensing, is increased by $73. The Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care rates are based on a point count which is determined by individual care needs, and county of residence. Workers will use the new rates for cases effective 01/01/2023. IES was updated with the new rates on active cases receiving assistance for Shelter Care, Personal Care and Nursing Care in homes not subjected to licensing effective 01/01/2023.
