Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Advisory Board

Description

The Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) Advisory Board is a group of community volunteers who assist the Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Program by providing input and approvals on specific issues, questions and concerns related to the MSHS grant. The Advisory Council is not constrained by legal requirements. However, it does operate within a set of guidelines outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards.

IDHS - MSHS provides childcare and comprehensive services to children of low-income agricultural workers who reside in Illinois temporarily or permanently. Contracted delegate agencies serve the families through support services which include parent education, referrals, translation, transportation, children's medical and dental treatment and assistance for children with disabilities. In addition, delegates collaborate with social-service and educational entities in the local community to enhance assistance to families.
