A face-to-face interview is not required. Give the applicant the QI-1 information sheet and brochures. An application for QI-1 benefits is not required to approve QI-1 benefits for an active case. The original application is sufficient.
Accept the applicant's statement of information on the QI-1 application, except for Medicare Part A enrollment.
The client must meet all nonfinancial eligibility requirements. Obtain and report Third Party Liability (TPL) information.
Approve or deny applications within 45 days of receipt.
QI-1 benefits may be retroactive for 3 months before the month of application. A MediPlan card is not issued to a person who receives only QI-1 benefits.
