ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES

January 19, 2021

In attendance (via Zoom): Maryanne Kelly, Tina Cole, Michael Landau, Therese Manderino, Letitia Doe (Superintendent) Nicole Miceli, Wanda McNeal, Lou Hamer (DHS), Peter Quinn, Kerrie Rawlings, Mary McAloon,

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 am

  1. Review of Minutes
    • Minutes for November 17, 2020 meeting will be reviewed at the March meeting.
  2. Superintendent's Report
    • Letitia introduced Lou Hamer who is our new DHS representative from the state.
    • The website for ICRE is being reconstructed. Thanks to Peter Quinn for his assistance. The site is being updated.
    • Title IX section of website is being updated to insure that ICRE is in compliance. Two ICRE staff are the compliance monitors.
    • Students are scheduled to return to school on April 1st. Until then all classes are via Zoom. ICRE is working to have all PPE in place.
    • Student return will be staggered to comply with Covid regulations.
    • Vaccines will be available for any staff who chose to have a vaccine. Student vaccines will be determined by their individual medical providers.
    • The state has approved funds to remove carpeting from hallway walls, and gym walls. Thanks to Michael Landau for writing letters to the state about this.
    • There are no funds to repair pool at this time.
  3. Principal's Report, Nicole Miceli
    • Nicole and Letitia have monthly on-line meetings with the families of the students. There is a parent meeting scheduled for tonight. Parents have been very happy with these meetings.
    • Transition students are on remote learning. Staff is setting up remote work opportunities for students at CVS Pharmacy and Special Olympics.
    • The PEP students from Vaughn are also doing remote learning. That program is successful.
    • IEP's are being completed remotely.
  4. Foundation Report, Therese Manderino
    • The paperwork for UIC Grant is not finalized yet.
    • The website is being reorganized.
    • Students are working remotely. They are beginning to sell a few products.
    • Therese suggested that school garden needs extensive work. Gardening is no longer a part of the curriculum. Letitia asked Lou about funds for the garden. Michael suggested contacting Botanic Garden for help.

    • There is no old business.
  6. Adjournment
    • Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 am.
    • Date of next meeting: Tuesday, March 16, 2021 @ 9:00 am via Zoom. Meetings scheduled for the rest of the year: May 18 & June 9.
