Research Evidence-Based Practices: The Road to IPS

This session describes the history of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in mental health services. Content includes a discussion of core EBPs in mental health recovery, the foundational studies behind them, and the level of research evidence that supports model programs such as ACT, IPS, and WRAP, among others. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced researcher the elements of EBPs and the ways in which academic-community mental health center partnerships have paved the way for sustainable, billable services. Central in this discussion will be the role of supported employment and IPS as foundational examples of EBPs.

Lisa A. Razzano, PhD, CPRP
Dr. Lisa Razzano is Associate Professor at the UIC Department of Psychiatry where she is Deputy Director for the Center on Mental Health Services Research and Policy. In addition to her academic appointment, Dr. Razzano is Vice President for Research at Thresholds. She is recognized internationally for her contributions to mental health services research, having led funded studies for nearly 30 years, and is author/co-author of diverse peer-reviewed research regarding physical and mental health co-morbidities, sexuality and mental health, and service model and program evaluation strategies. Currently, Dr. Razzano co-chairs the American Psychological Association's (APA) Task Force on Serious Mental Illness/Serious Emotional Disturbance and is a member of the Research and Practice Committee of the APA's Specialty Council.
