What Do IPS Participants Need? Purchases Made with Career Account Funds

This presentation describes Career Accounts, which are individual budgets used by IPS participants to purchase goods and services to support their job seeking, employment, and career goals. Attend this session to learn what kinds of purchases IPS service recipients make and how what they buy enhances their vocational outcomes. Think about what community resources employment specialists can help participants access to make similar purchases and improve employment experiences. Also discussed will be the research study that is underway by to test the effectiveness of Career Accounts by the University of Illinois at Chicago in collaboration with Thresholds' IPS teams.

Drew Egli, MS, Graduate Research Assistant, UIC Center on Mental Health Services Research and Policy
Drew Egli is a Graduate Research Assistant at the UIC Center on Mental Health Services Research and Policy. He is a Career Account Broker who meets with participants to orient them to the program, helps them create vocational goals and budgets, make purchases, and conduct quarterly reviews. He has presented his work at professional conferences and guest lectures.

Nicole Pashka is Director of the Thresholds Research Department. She has presented at numerous national conferences on psychiatric rehabilitation. She works on the Career Accounts Study.
Adam R. Malson, MS, LPC, NCC, IPS Team Leader, Thresholds South
Adam R. Malson is the Team Leader of Individual Placement and Support services at Thresholds South where he oversees the work of employment specialists and manages employment services delivered to people with serious mental illness. He is a seasoned presenter and trainer of service delivery staff.
John Prestipino, MSW, Assistant Program Director, Thresholds Vocational Program
John Prestipino is Assistant Director of the Thresholds Vocational Program and oversees the IPS teams. He has presented at numerous national conferences on psychiatric rehabilitation and he works on the Career Accounts Study.
